RECENT CONVENTION
Eulogy for Dr.Sukhadia
Recent convention at BJMC Ahmedabad.

Last year during our 7th BJMC Alumni gathering lots of member felt that we should try to attract for members for alumni association here at USA and Ahmedabad as well as other countries like UK, Africa, Australia, new Zealand and gulf and other European counties. There was suggestion that either we can advertise in IMA bulletin or try arrange another grand alumni gathering like we had in 1996 for our golden jubilee celebration.

I have talked to local alumni leaders and they were agreed and had worked to tirelessly to bring an excellent gathering at BJMC campus. During Saturday dinner we had 1100 members. Unfortunately our present from USA was about 15 to 20. Five members from executive committee and board of directors had attended.

This gathering was able to rekindle the alumni spirit with great zeal and gusto. Convention committee made numerous meeting and was able to attract lots of new members.

For this event our governor was the chief guest. Because of this government had improved our auditorium with 15 lakh rupees and now we have all the benches usable for seating. About 15 gold medals were declared by alumni and professors during this conference each with 50,000 rupees donation.

There was grand plan to improve hostel room. We will spend 50,000 rupees per room in Hostel. We have received 10 such donations and this will be very popular scheme. If it is approved by our executive committee we will sponsor 5 rooms from BJMCAA, USA and will request our members for an individual donation to sponsor a room where their name will be written.

Saturday night dinner was hosted at Shantilal Bhogilal Patel’ farm who has collection of vintage car. This place was amazing with lots of old Ralls Royce and other name automobiles. This is considered second largest private collection in the world. We had great entertainment form Bombay and had lots of fun and nice time to meet friends and their family. We will try to show you more pictures of this program as soon as available.

During this convention we had chance to discuss with local alumni leaders and see where we can this and what our immediate need are. BJMC library and furniture is falling apart. There are no chairs and lots of broken benches and chairs. If local alumni and we can try we can make and excellent air condition library. If anybody wants to donate 100,000 dollars we can name the library on their name of course if they want to name on BJMCCAA we will also welcome.

If you go to civil hospital you will notice that only cancer, heart, kidney, eye and paraplegia hospitals are working very efficiently. These all are autonomous institution where government gives the grant but they let the private body run it. We need lots of such institution and for that we need dedicated philanthropist to come forward and one can make a great deal of change and contribution. Some of our colleagues who are ready to retire and have resources this will be challenging carrier to think out. It will not only serve humanity at great deal but one could have very rewarding experience.

I had met with Dr. Amarjit Singh who is very nice and sincere bureaucrats working as Directors of health services at Gandhinagar. Who has lots of idea and desire to do such things and will be very helpful to carry out such endeavors with lots of help from chief ministers and central government.

This was indeed a great experience to learn, enjoy and meet with my friends some of them were meeting after 35 years.
